Cassandria Barlow-Mayfield

Cassandria Barlow-Mayfield’s performing has been described as "poised, controlled and communicative". Cassandria received her Bachelor’s degree in 1998 and Master’s degree in 2003 both in Music with an emphasis in Piano Performance from the University of Utah under the direction of Dr. Bonnie Gritton.

In 1993 Cassandria performed on tour in Frankfurt and Lake Constanz, Germany; in Geneva, Switzerland; and at the Kibbutz Hagoshrim in Isreal. In 1997 she performed throughout Warsaw and studied with Madam Smedyanka at the Chopin Academy of Music. In 1998 she toured in Austria and Hungary, performing in Salzburg, Vienna, and Budapest and in Hungary's Esterhazy Palace. Cassandria is the recipient of many top awards in local and national piano competitions. She has been a guest soloist with local and university orchestras and was the guest soloist with the Utah Symphony in their 1999 Summer Concert Series.

Cassandria was a faculty member of the Univeristy of Utah Preparatory Division, from 1999 to 2006, teaching private lessons as well as group kindermusik classes. From 2010 to 2013, Cassandria was employed as the Salt Lake Symphonic Choir accompanist and featured as a soloist in several performances. She served as a middle school accompanist for their four choirs from 2021-2024. She regularly accompanies soloists and groups.

Cassandria enjoys teaching and believes music is a necessary part of a child’s development. Her students have taken prizes in local competitions, taken part in the Interlochen School of Music, Brigham Young University, University of Utah, and Utah State University summer programs. Her students have earned music scholarships to the University of Utah, Southern Utah University, Utah State University.

Cassie is a member of MTNA and UMTA (Utah Music Teacher’s Association). She has served in UMTA in her local chapter as a vice president, chapter treasurer, and competition chairman. She has served on the state board as the UMTA Concerto Competition Chairman, and is currently serving on the executive board as the 2nd Vice President, or Competition Chairman.

Currently Cassandria has a piano studio in her home in Herriman, Utah. She works as an accompanist and performer part time as well.
